Low impact oscillation for retort pouches & trays is the ideal solution for many food products in order to optimize product quality and protect sensitive containers and heat sealed lid stock.
While traditional Surdry rotary retorts feature the capability to “rock and roll” and vigorously agitate products, the new oscillating type processing system gently rocks the product to provide a moderate level of agitation.
Key benefits include a much lower investment cost in retort equipment and racks than typical rotary retorts. Competitive front-to-back reciprocating methods could induce significant abuse on package seals and surfaces, while this new Surdry method has proven to be both gentle and efficient.

A new Multi Mode Pilot Retort is available from Surdry. In addition to featured steam and/or waterspray process capabilities, this unit features a separate vessel for hot water storage so that it simulates perfectly the performance of the production size full or partial water immersion retorts at high speed rotation.

Several units have already been sold in the USA to companies who wish to compare the results of water immersion processes with other more energy efficient processes.
